Sex is one topic of discussion that for one reason or another, people are very shy when it comes to talking about it. For some they believe when they talk about it they are seen as promiscuous or sex addicts so they rather just keep what they know to themselves. Due to the sensitivity of sex there a quite a number of misconceptions. Even the most intelligent of people can become misinformed about sex through hearsay, folklore, misleading media images, or even pornography. So, put aside your embarrassment toward penises, vaginas, orgasms, ejaculations and sexually transmitted infections, here is an opportunity to clear the air about some sex myths many of you must heard over the years.
1. A lady’s hymen will break the first time she has sex

Hymen is a thin membrane that can partially cover the entrance of the vagina. The shape and structure differs from female to female. It can therefore rip the first time a female engages in sex although it doesn’t always. It has become deeply associated with concepts of purity and virginity in many cultures. However, having penetrative sex is not the only way that a female can break the hymen. It can also be broken through inserting tampons, physical activity, gymnastics, sport or sex toys.
2. Making noises is the only way to show you’re enjoying it

Some women are loud, while others are silent. However this does not mean that they are enjoying it any less. Of course, men love to hear you scream but if you don’t want to do so, try another way or simply tell him later on that you liked it.
3. A lady’s vagina becomes loose if she is promiscuous

There’s little evidence to suggest that intercourse can permanently stretch a woman’s vagina, nor will it change shape, size, or color depending on how many sexual partners she has had or how often she has had sex. A 2006 study from the journal Human Reproduction looked into finding the average shape and size of vaginas using MRI scans. As they noted, “vaginal anatomy has been poorly studied.” They found that there was not one way to characterize the shape of the human vagina, with all showing different dimensions. One of the few variables they did find was age with the pelvic flexure width.
4. Vaginal sex alone gives you an orgasm

Most people think vaginal sex is the only way that women can reach heightened sexual pleasure. This is totally false. There are many other ways to satisfy their needs, like clitoral stimulation or with vibrators.
5. A tall man with big feet = Big junk

The most common penis misbelief is that different races have vastly different penis sizes. It’s actually quite hard to guess the size of a man’s junk (penis) without seeing it. According to a study in the British Journal of Urology International, it’s also not true that there’s a link between penis size and shoe size.
6. Orgasm is the only way you can feel sexually satisfied

Many women like foreplay and cuddling more than sex and if that is missing, they’ll probably never feel fully satisfied. So if you were thinking a good orgasm was the only way to be happy, think again.
7. Women can’t have sexual problems

Contrary to popular belief, women also face a lot of sexual troubles that aren’t common knowledge. Problems such as painful intercourse, low arousal, lack of orgasm, etc, can make women lose interest in sex.
